Cultural Events has been an integral part of all Past Festivals held and is no different this time around. An opportunity

is set for every Center to show case our rich cultural background and heritage coupled by talents and skills of members who will thrive to exhibit our vast and diverse culture.

 

  • DAY 1 : OPENING CEREMONIES

    • Ganesh Pooja & Flag Hoisting Ceremony

      SHREE LOHANA MAHAJAN RAM MANDIR

      DETAILS

      Members of the: Executive Committee of Shree Lohana Mahajan Dar es Salaam; Festival Organizing Committee; and the Secretary General together with their families will participate in Ganesh Pooja and flag hoisting ceremony. Guests from outside Dar-es-Salaam who would have arrived on time are also welcome to participate. Refreshments will be served after the event.

  • DAY 2 : CARNIVAL NIGHT

    Dress code for the Carnival night:  "Fancy Fusion ( East and West)"

    Please note that it is merely a display of your talents and not a contest in which:

    A variety of acts are encouraged like:

    • singing (solo, duet or ensemble),

    • Playing a musical instrument (solo, duet or ensemble)

    • Theatre/Drama -  performing in a skit, monologue, comedy routine

    • Entertainment - doing magic tricks, gymnastics, juggling

    • Any other unique talent in the field of education.

     

    RULES

    • Every center to present two talents

    • All acts must be NO LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES.

    • All equipments and props for the act must be brought by the performer.

    • No aerial or pole acts will be permitted.

    • No fire, smoke or smoke-effect will be allowed on stage at any time.

    • Any acts using recorded music must have a CD or an MP3 submitted.

    • Lip syncing is not permitted.

    • Your act should not include any offensive language, costumes or profanity in any form.

    • You must wear appropriate attire (clothing/costumes)

    • All interested persons must complete an entry form.

    • The music for the Talent show to be sent to host center by no later then 5th December and the participant should carry an extra copy in flash or CD for the event.

     

    AUDITION

    Please send the clip of your talent to confirm your entry into the show. Deadline for submission of the talents should be sent via email by no later than 15th  November 2018 to shilpa.kara@hotmail.com and cc bdsangani15@gmail.com along with the duly filled ENTERY FORM.

     

    FINAL DECISION

    The Talent Show organizers reserve the right to cancel or restrict a particular performance.

  • DAY 3 : CULTURAL NIGHT

      "TO SHOWCASE A SPECTRUM OF EXPRESSIONS THAT REFLECT VARIOUS SHADES OF LIFE"
    • Expressions:
      • Shringar (beauty admiration)
      • Hasya (comedy)
      • Karuna (sorrow)
      • Krodh (anger)
      • Darr (fear)
      • Veerta (heroism/courage/valor)
      • Aman/Shanti (peace)
      • Bhakti (devotion)
      • Prem (love.. in any bond)
      • Khushi (happiness/celebration)
      • Nirasha(disappointment/despair/heartbreak)
      • Asha (hope/dream)
      • Jeet (victory)
      • Dosti (friendship/mischief)
    • Performances must reflect the above mentioned ‘Expressions’.
    • The selection of the dance form can be of any genre from Bollywood (ethnic, hip hop, classical, jazz, freestyle, fusion)
    • Number of performances from each participating center will be as follows:
      Dar es Salaam (Host center) - Five (5)
      Nairobi - Two (2)
      Kampala - Two (2)
      Kisumu - Two (2)
      Mwanza - Two (2)
      Nakuru - One (1)
      Arusha - One (1)
      Mombasa - One (1)
    • RULES & REGULATIONS

      • For the centers presenting two or more dances, to please note that only one of the performance from the selection must be a musical drama (skit/act leading to dance).

      • Time allocated to each performance is maximum of 5 minutes.

      • There should be a minimum of 4 and maximum of 16 participants at any given time on stage in a performance.

      • Centers are requested to ensure that the dances and the lyrics are NOT frivolous in nature.

      • The display of the ‘Expressions’ should adhere to the social norms of the community without hurting the sentiments of any.

      • No Solo items permitted.

      • In an attempt to provide a variety in the entertainment and to prevent disappointments, kindly select and forward your 4 best options from the suggested expression (Indradhanush). This will enable us to avoid multiple repetitions of the performances in regards to music as well as expression. (However we intend to evade triple duplication of an expression).

      • Entries of the performance/s to be submitted to the Host Center latest by 7th of October 2018 by midnight. The selection will be on first come first basis. You will be reverted on the same by 22nd October 2018.

      • Every Center to send their music recording by Email to the Host Center by 15th November 2018 to the Convener and the Co Convener.
  • DAY 4 : CLOSING CEREMONY

35TH LOHANA SPORTS & CULTURAL FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL COUNTDOWN

Dar es salaam will host the 35th Lohana Sports & Cultural festival from 22nd December to 25th December 2018. This is the 6th Time Dar es Salaam will host a Festival after 1975, 1985, 1990, 1998 & 2012. Dar es Salaam is the largest city and economic capital of Tanzania. Located in a quiet bay off the Indian Ocean coast, the city has developed into an economic importance to become a prosperous center of the entire East African region.
